Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is one of the busiest airports in the world. The building was designed by the architectural firm Foster and Partners, which specializes in modern, sustainable, and integrated design.
Hong Kong International Airport is on its way to becoming the world’s greenest airport and works closely with business partners, suppliers, and passengers to reduce its environmental footprint.
HKIA has adopted a "triple water system" since 1998 to improve the efficiency of its three major water sources: freshwater, seawater, and treated wastewater.
HKIA takes a series of measures to minimize daily use of freshwater. For example, seawater is used for flushing toilets, and wastewater is collected and processed for landscape irrigation. Using seawater for flushing requires just 25-50% of the energy required if the same amount of freshwater were used.

HKIA uses seawater for flushing its toilets and specified 700 of Sloan’s Naval 111 Water Closet Flushometers to use throughout the facility.
