Sloan Helps Sports Arenas Come Back with Restroom Hygiene and Style

Over two years into a global pandemic, two things are clear:

  1. People still want to pack arenas for sports and other events.
  2. Those arenas have to make hygiene a top priority.

You’ll find ample evidence for both #1 and #2 in Pittsburgh and Indianapolis, where two major arenas have renovated their restrooms with Sloan touch-free products. As the pioneer of sensor-operated restroom technology, Sloan is the world’s go-to resource for entertainment venues that understand the importance of hand hygiene.

When you explore these restroom renovations, you may also notice a third fact:

  1. In modern entertainment venues, style still matters.

Penguins Fans Get Enhanced Hygiene at PPG Paints Arena

PPG Paints Arena is home ice for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, hosting more than 150 hockey games, athletic events, concerts, and other events every year.

In the summer of 2020, the venue’s management initiated restroom upgrades—in the main concourse, suites, and locker rooms—to welcome fans and players back to a safer, more hygienic environment. They wanted a completely touch-free experience, so their natural choice was Sloan. They chose:

And PPG Paints Arena is just the beginning. PPG Paints Arena is managed by ASM Global, and Sloan has been named ASM’s North American Preferred Commercial Plumbing Systems Partner. In this role, Sloan will enhance restroom hygiene in more than 300 ASM-managed venues.

A Hygienic Renovation at Indy’s Gainbridge Fieldhouse

Is Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse the best basketball arena in the country? The home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever is in the heart of one of the country’s most basketball-obsessed states—but Gainbridge Fieldhouse also hosts concerts, World Wrestling Entertainment shows, Cirque du Soleil, and much more.

As part of a complete 2021 renovation—including a new outdoor plaza and a top level standing-room platform—the Fieldhouse’s management also chose touch-free, hygienic Sloan products for its restrooms. A few highlights:

“Sloan truly became our partner through every touch point of the guest experience in our restrooms,” said Mel Raines, President & COO, Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Gainbridge Fieldhouse. “I cannot imagine a better partner to take us to the next level of innovation in this increasingly critical area of our business.”

Making Restroom Aesthetics a Priority

Hygiene wasn’t the only reason these state-of-the-art arenas chose Sloan for their restroom renovations. They both made aesthetics a priority, too, with design touches that added an element of style.

PPG Paints arena specified faucets individually laser-engraved with the Pittsburgh Penguins logo to extend the team’s brand into every restroom.

Gainbridge Fieldhouse specified Sloan special finishes on many of its faucets—graphite for its lower bowl suites, and polished brass.  The faucets for the arena’s Caresource Courtside Club display an LED screen customized with the Caresource and Pacers logos and provide a 20-second countdown to guide guests as they complete the handwashing process.

The Sloan products in the renovated restrooms of both arenas may be touch-free for optimum hand hygiene, but they’re full of sleek design touches that Penguins, Pacers, and Fever fans appreciate every time they visit the restroom.
