How much do we love baseball?
Well, for starters (and relievers, too, haha) we’re the Official Water Efficiency Partner of the Chicago Cubs. We’re proud to supply every water-saving, sensor-operated faucet, flushometer, water closet, and urinal at legendary Wrigley Field. And we’re also thrilled that our products add to the style and comfort of the Cubs’ state-of-the-art clubhouse.
But as much as we love Wrigley Field, we’ve made Sloan Park—the Cubs’ Spring Training home in Mesa, Arizona—our laboratory for the latest in hygienic, water saving commercial restroom technology.
To celebrate Spring Training 2023, here are a few of our favorite quotes about baseball, along with some highlights you’ll find when you visit the restrooms at Sloan Park.
"If the people don't wanna come out to the ballpark, nobody's gonna stop 'em." —Yogi Berra
Fortunately, Cubs games at Sloan Park remain one of the biggest draws in the Cactus League, so thousands of fans get to experience our advanced restroom technology for themselves.
The first thing they’ll see when they walk into the public restrooms behind the Suites and Party Deck level will be the game-changing AER-DEC® integrated sink. The AER-DEC combines BASYS® sensor-activated faucets, soap dispensers, and high-speed hand dryers into one beautiful, touch-free, hygienic system.
The groundbreaking design of the AER-DEC sinks prevents fans from dripping water onto the floor as they move from sink to hand dryer, so it keeps the restroom cleaner and safer all game long.
"Never save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain." —Leo Durocher
His teams won more than 2,000 games, so we’d never knock Durocher’s wisdom, but it’s a fact that not enough tomorrows bring rain in many parts of the world. As of mid-February, 2023, Arizona is currently in its 20th year of long-term drought.41% of the lower 48 U.S. states were also in drought—which is actually a big improvement from last fall.
Since fresh water is our most valuable resource, Sloan has made water-saving restroom technology our highest priority. Sloan Park is a prime example of the water savings facilities can enjoy when they deploy flushometers that use less water.
- SOLIS® Exposed Sensor Water Closet Flushometers: 1.28 gpf
- SOLIS® Exposed Sensor Urinal Flushometers: 0.125 gpf
Plus, since every flushometer and faucet at Sloan Park is sensor-activated, they only run when they need to. Together, these fixtures help reduce the ballpark's water use by more than 30%.
"The players make the manager; it's never the other way." —Sparky Anderson
Managing a facility is quite different from managing a baseball team. When you consider restroom technology, there’s a lot of truth to what Anderson says—the right products can make a facility manger more effective.
At Sloan Park, for example, next-generation commercial restroom technology makes facility management easier. Sloan Optima® ETF Faucets and sensor flushometers pair with the Sloan Connect App® to help managers collect data, monitor battery strength, and unlock predictive maintenance, all from the touch of a button.
How does this technology help managers manage? They can:
- Detect a malfunctioning water closet and dispatch maintenance to repair it before it impacts a visitor
- Have maintenance change batteries only when necessary, instead of changing them all at once
- Monitor water usage to ensure the facility is running at optimal sustainability
This connected restroom technology is what makes Sloan Park the perfect place to catch a Spring Training Cubs game.
What’s left to say about Sloan Park? Just two words: Play ball!
